Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX)
The ALEX is a great website for teachers and especially students that are working on becoming a teacher. This is a very well organized and informational site. I believe ALEX will be a great tool for my teaching. I will use it as a resource for my classroom.

Alabama Connecting Lassroom Educators and Students Statewide (ACCESS)
The ACCESS is a website for students who are interested in taking course not offered to them. This website allows students to pull study materials to prepare them for the graduation exam and other important exams. This would have been beneficial to my education if I knew about this in high school. Iam pretty sure not many high school students know about what is offered to them through this website. This is a great tool for the State of Alabama to have.

I would use all of Ms. Cassidy's ideas for using technology in the classroom. Ms. Cassidy had alot of good ideas for using technology in the classroom. It allows students to motivate each other and want to learn more. The students was proud and felt really configent in their work. Blogs allows people to leave comments for the students which can also motivate them to do better. The web pages is also a useful tool in the classroom. If a student is sick and miss an assignment, the web page allows them to check what they miss.Ms. Cassidy is doing such a wonderful job with her students. I wish her and her students the best of luck and hope they continue to learn more about technology.

Additional Assignment #3

I really enjoyed this vidoe. it was very entertaining and educational. The most important thing Sir ken Robinson said was that teachers should encourage their kids senses to operate to their peaks. I did not find anything i this video that I would disagree with. Sir Ken Robinson said that in today's time, children are being fed with medicine to solve their problems. Medicine are not always the safe way out. To me, this shows us that we rely on too many things to get through our problems. If I had to do a presentation and had to pick a role, I would like to be the artist or do the sound effects.

http://morgbayda.wordpress.com/2010/02/24/an-open-letter-to-educators/ by Morgan Bayda
This video was very interesting. It talks about a young man who dropped out of school because he believed that his schooling was interfering with his education. He explained how college today is not the best way for people to learn because of the way most classes are taught. I agree because since I've been in college, I have had a couple of classes where I didn't learn anything in them. Dan Brown had some good points except for one, dropping out of school. Me personally will never drop out of school no matter what because its the best way for me to get educated for the degree I'm trying to get. Yes professors doesn't really give you individual attention due to large classes but its up to us to make ourselves notced and known by asking questions and taking advantage of the teachers business hours.

Two Questions That Can Change Your Life!!!
I would have to say that my sentence will be about helping others. Something like "She help those in need," because I love helping others and just giving back to my community. The second question they ask was, "Was I better today than I was yesterday." Good question. I would have to say yes because I try my best to better myself each day and just live life.

What I've Learned This Year by Mr. McClung
This was a very inspiring post. Perfection doesn't always happen in the classroom. You must be able to make mistakes in order for the lessons to be absorbed. Mr. McClung stated "Being a teacher does not mean that the school is all about you: How you perform is not the question," it's how your projections inspire the students to perform well. Teachers should not be speech makers, but should simply guide the students into an area of study and let them immerse themseleves.

Richard Miller: This Is How We Dream Parts 1 and 2
This video really open my eyes about how technology is changing theway we are processing the information. It showed a new way of looking at the Internet which involved txt embedded with various types of media such s images, audio, and video. This information provided culd be from various sources which includes information from the past or the present.

EDM 310 is Different: The Chipper Series and EDM For Dummies
These videos ws very interesting and entertaining. In the Chipper Series, it talks about how you should be on time with the assignments. It shows us that no matter what the circumstances is, you must still do your work and turn it in on time. In the EDM For Dummies, it talks about how the students get confused and mad about not understanding the assignment. Its normal but the video showed us that we shouldn't be afraid to ask for help and to use the lab as our advantage.

SmartBoards
In both videos, they said how smartboards are just a waste of money and how it would only keep the students attention for a short period of time. I think smarboards are a great access to the classroom. It helps the students want to learn more and get more involve in the classroom and keep their attention instead of listening at a teacher for an hour straight.
Heres a website that have a different take on smartboards than Mr. Staton and Mr. Ferriter: www.techlearning.com/article/5160

Randy Pausch's Last Lecture
I enjoyed watching ths video. The lecture was about how to achieve our dreams and enable them to others. Mr. Pausch had dreams during his childhood and just like most of us, he tried as hard as he could to accomplish each or at least most of them, which he did. He is an inspiring person. His video made me want to work hard at whatever it is that I'm trying to do just so I could achieve what I've always dream of doing.
Experience is what we get when things doesn't always go as plan. We all experience things but it's up to us to make them workout as we dreamed.
It's not always achieving your dreams but living your life to the fullest and the right way with no regrets. Like Randy Pausch stated, " The inspiration and the permission to dream is huge." So with that said, dream big and try your best to achieve them.

The Networked Student by Wendy Drexler
This video is about a student with a teacher whom theory is learning through a social network. So we all have ask, why have a teacher? Teachers can offer you guidance when you are having difficulties. I personal, don't think I am ready to be a teacher of a network.

A 7th Grader's Personal Learning Environment
I have not started on my PLN yet so therefore I can not compare their's to mines. Still thinking of an topic.

The Machine Is Changing US by Michael Wesch
This video was quite confusing. I couldn't put it to my life but at the beginning, he showed two sets of pictures. One of his classroom which he stated, " they are not socially and politically engaged, they just aren't there", and one of American Idol audiance which showed opposite expressions than his classroom picture. There are something structure about us that make us act or feel a certain way.

Eagle's Nest Radio
I thought their podcast were very informational. Everyone had an equal opportunity to do something in this podcast. They all seemed like they was having fun. To me, just by them being involved and playing a part in the podcast, it will motivated them to want to learn more.

The Benefits of Podcasting In The Classroom
This was a good video. I learned alot about podcasting and how it really works. Also, I learned that ypu can use music, pictures, and other tools to make your podcast just the way you want it. Podcasting allows students as well as teachers to teach each other the concepts of podcasting.

100 Ways To Use Your iPod To Learn and Study Better
To be honest, I really didn't believe an iPod could help a person learn nor study better. I thought it brings too much distractions from the thing you're trying to do. But after looking at this post, I found out iPods are very helpful. It had all types of programs that were educational. Also, it not only had programs for the adults but for the children as well.

Additional Assignment #1

Google Squared makes researching easier. It provides you with information in a table format. This is a very helpful tool in the education department.
Wolfram Alpha is very detailed. It provides you with information in a bullet format. It's also very helpful when trying to look information on something.
Before this assignment, I have never heard about Google Squared or Wolfram Alpha. I have learned alot just by typing in whatever it was that I wanted to know about.

Don't Teach Your Kids This Stuff. Please? Scott McLeod
I enjoyed reading this post. I think technology is improving by the minute everyday. i love the sarcasm in this post as well. Parents and teachers should teach their children/students this so they will be able to keep up with the new technologies but at the same time, also monitortheir activities until they get a good understanding about the techology.

The iSchool Initiative. Travis
I really like this video. Travis had some wonderful ideas on making the schools and classrooms much easier for both parents and students. I also love the idea about turning the iPhones into an iSchool. To me, this will help many parents get more involve in their children's schools.
Also, it will save alot of parents money because they would'nt have to worry about paying for books and other schools materials. Although there are many great ideas about the iSchool, I have concerns dealing with the teachers. I think it would be very hard for any teacher to grade all the students work and answer their questions through an iSchool. Don't get me wrong, the iSchool is a great idea but it need to not only be easier for the students but the teachers as well.

The Lost Generation
Well, I must say, this video started off very sad and depression. I like the way she formatted the information in this video. She stated that "Happiness comes from within is a lie and Money makes me happy." I think without happiness, nothing is worth living for because money comes and it goes but happiness stays forever. This video really caught my attention.

Eric Whitace's Virtual Choir
OMG!!! This was a very relaxing song. It's amazing how 185 people can come together and make something so wonderful. And to top it off, they never met each other. This shows us how the Internet and technology these days are improving. It makes me want to learn everything there is to know about the new technology.

Micheal Wesch: A Vision of Students Today
This video is very realistic. It reminds me so much of the things I've had to experience in college. Especially the part about spending too much money on books that will never be open and getting only 7hrs of sleep. I mean now a days most teachers want you to buy a 90 or more dollar book that they barely teach out of. To me, it's a waste of time and money. Also about the facebook part, I can really relate to that. I am guilty of being on facebook in class when I'm suppose to be doing my work and paying attention. I think in order for problems like this to be corrected, the university need to have certain websites blocked such as facebook, myspace, and other chat sites.

Kelly Hines: It's Not About Technology
Ms. Hines hit the nail on the head. A teacher must be a learner in order to keep up with the new ways of improving teaching. Hines said "We must look at learning as the product of a successful day", which means teachers must make sure that every student is learningand understanding the subject at hand.

Karl Fisch: Is It Okay To Be A Technologically Illiterate Teacher?
In todays time, it is very important that teachers are technology literate. Now in every classroom, they have the smart boards but it can only help if the teachers know how to use it correctly.

Gary Hayes: Social Media Count
This was a great video. I believe social media have a big effect on the way teachers teach. Teachers are going to have to be technology literate so they can benefit their students. When teaching in the classroom, we should be able to present these tools and allow our students to use these resources to the best of their abilities.

The first post That "Let's Do More Mentality", Mr. Eyler states that it's our responsibility to want to do more to seek improvement. Which means people always think or say they have to do more without considering whether or not whay they are doing now is working. My response was don't stop what you're doing just to fix your problems. Instead just add new ideas to help you build on fixing the old ones. Remember doing more is always a good idea.

My name is Jameica York and I'm 22 yrs old. I was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. My major is Physical Education with a minor in Computer Information System. After I get my degree, I'm planning on going back to school to get my masters in Computers. I went to University of North Alabama for 4 yrs where I was on the UNA Women's Basketball Team. I transferred to USA because of family and personal problems but everything is working themselves out. I have a 4 yr old brother name Darryl Brooks II whose my everything. My family is very supported in whatever I do. They are the reason why I'm going to be successful in life. They are my backbone and I couldn't do nothing without them.
I chose Physical Education as my major because one day I plan on being a basketball coach either in middle school or high school. I love playing basketball and I believe through God that I would be a successful coach. Also, I love anything dealing with computers. I learn different things about computers everyday.
